Mexican mother arrested after son's eyes gouged out

Police said on Thursday they had arrested seven people, including the boy's parents, after his eyeballs were pulled out during the ritual in Nezahualcoyotl, a working-class neighborhood on the eastern flank of Mexico City. "There was some kind of ceremony inside a house," said Laura Uribe, a spokeswoman for state prosecutors in the State of Mexico, a populous region that borders much of the capital. She did not give details of what the ritual involved. The mother is believed to have removed the eyes with her bare hands because the boy refused to close them during the ceremony, police told a news conference. Officers found the mutilated boy in the house on Thursday morning, before rushing him to a hospital in Mexico City for treatment.

Mystery object nearly causes mid-air collision

Authorities are investigating a mysterious object that almost caused a mid-air collision last week. The Federal Aviation Administration are attempting to determine what the object was and if it could pose further risk to aircraft. Described by the pilot at the time as a "large remote controlled aircraft", the object came close enough to cause serious concern as the plane flew at around 8,000ft over Cherry Creek. "That's an issue because now we have something in controlled airspace that poses a danger," said aviation analyst Greg Feith. "Was this an unmanned vehicle that was part of some sort of law enforcement operation? Was this somebody that had flown a large model aircraft inadvertently into the airspace?"

A video has appeared online showing a glowing figure with wings appearing briefly on CCTV footage.

The video shows an unremarkable street in Indonesia when out of nowhere an unidentified winged figure bathed in light suddenly drops down on the right-hand side and then quickly disappears. Moments later a number of people ( assumed to be security guards ) rush over to see what's happening. The exact origins of the footage remain unclear with some speculating that it could be a viral advertisement for an upcoming movie or video game.
