Creepy robot baby developed in Japan
Known as Affetto, the eerily realistic robot has been created for use in various behavioral experiments.
Featuring a life-like torso and arms that flop around in a way reminiscent of a real baby, scientists at Japan's Osaka University are aiming to use the robotic infant to investigate how human higher cognitive functions develop.
22 pneumatic actuators help to provide the torso with life-like flexibility and "babyish looseness." The team has released the video below demonstrating what the robot is like and inviting viewers to look their eerie creation in the face.
